Illinois Lottery Must Agree on Budget to Pay Out Lottery Winnings

The state of the Illinois state lottery restrictions on lottery pay-outs has gotten worse as cap of $600 has been placed payments and state Comptroller Leslie Geissler Munger revealed that the state will miss a $560 million pension payment in November.

The state budget has been a source of contention and an approval is required before any money may be spent. Illinois lottery has reassured players that their money is available and will be paid once the state Legislature has been resolved.

‘Payment delays will occur because there currently is no legal authority for the Illinois Comptroller or the Illinois Lottery to issue checks,’ the Illinois Lottery said in a statement. ‘Please note that the funding to pay winners exists, but the legal authority to issue checks does not.’

Payments have been delayed as of July 1, 2015 and winnings will be paid out once a state budget is agreed upon.
