iGaming is on the rise in Europe
It’s no secret that the internet is always aiming to make our lives more exciting, easier to use, and is gaining popularity every minute of the day. The rise of online gambling is no different and new data has been released that iGaming in Europe is blowing up.
Data recently released by Global Betting and Gaming Consultant has shown that just about every aspect of online gaming is on the rise in Europe. Between 2005 and 2015, the Gross Gaming Yield alone has risen by a whopping 328%.
The largest jump in the Gross Gaming Yield took place between 2005 and 2015 with a rise of 198%, eventually being capped at $15.87 in 2015. If the Gross Gaming Yield continues to grow at this rate, 2020 would be a record year of $21.88 billion in market value.
Popular games and casinos
Looking at how different casinos and games have fared between 2005 and 2015 shows some interesting developments.
There are many online casinos to choose from throughout Europe and their contribution to iGaming revenue has risen from 23.1% in 2005 to 29.2% in 2015. If you’d like to experience great online gaming for yourself, we recommend Casino Euro, Royal Vegas Casino, and SlotsMagic Casino!
The most popular and lucrative form of iGaming in Europe is still sports betting. In 2005 sports betting contributed 45.6% to online gambling revenues and has since increased to a staggering 48.5%. It’s no surprise with most of Europe being extremely passionate about the sports teams they support.
Online bingo has remained a steady contributor with a rise of only 1% since 2005 to 9%.
The rise of internet gambling
Internet gambling is on the rise all around the world with new laws being made and changed every day. However, Europe has been leading the way in the rise of iGaming popularity.
The European iGaming market currently boasts a total revenue of $87 billion, making it the largest online real-money gambling market in the world! And it only continues to grow. The overall rate of growth is approximately 11% per year.
As many countries, including the United States of America, continue to make changes to their iGaming laws, we can look forward to faster and more exciting growth.
